About Us
How We Started
Oliver Phillips started his career in home building at a young age, working various jobs in construction—electrical work, carpentry, tile work, and woodworking. These hands-on experiences gave him a deep understanding of the trades and a strong foundation in how homes are built.
When he got to college, Oliver decided to expand his knowledge and studied architecture, earning a degree in Sustainable Energies and Regenerative Design. His education focused on designing homes that are cost-effective to build—a concept known as value engineering—while also being highly functional for the people who live in them. Rather than forcing someone to adapt to a house, Oliver believes a home should be designed around its occupants’ lifestyles. This philosophy also emphasizes the importance of working with a home’s natural surroundings, ensuring each design complements the unique characteristics of its lot and environment.
That vision led Oliver to start Living Space Design and Management in Pagosa Springs, CO where he gets to build custom homes that embrace the mountain lifestyle and the stunning landscapes that make this area so special.
Who We Are
Owner, Designer, General Operator
Oliver Phillips
I’ve always been passionate about living in the mountains of Colorado. As a mountain athlete and an advocate for healthy outdoor lifestyles, I understand the deep connection people have with their environment. That’s why, when designing homes, I prioritize how they integrate with my clients’ lifestyles—ensuring that every space supports the way they live, work, and play in their mountain home.
After graduating from Western State College in 2005 with a degree in Regenerative Energies and Sustainable Design, I moved to Pagosa Springs and spent a year and a half working for a developer. Eager to take a more hands-on approach, I started my own business—Living Space Design and Management. Shortly after, my brother, Isaac, joined me, and together we grew from small remodels and additions to full-scale custom home construction.
Today, we specialize in designing and building high-quality custom homes ranging from 2,500 to 4,000 square feet, with most averaging $400 to $450 per square foot. Our design process is highly personalized—we take the time to understand each client’s lifestyle, the unique attributes of their lot, and the breathtaking views Pagosa Springs has to offer. Every home we create is thoughtfully positioned to maximize natural light, frame stunning vistas, and seamlessly blend with its surroundings. As a full-service firm, we guide our clients from rough conceptual ideas through design, budgeting, scheduling, and construction, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience from start to finish.

Finish Selections
Summer Sackett
Summer has been inspired by interior and home design for as long as she can remember. Her first room redo was when she received wallpaper and curtains for her Christmas gift when she was 10. Ever since, she has been DIYing her way through all 7 of her homes over the the last 25 years. Summer has hands on experience with most finishes in and outside of a home including: laying new flooring, refinishing hardwood, tiling, wallpaper, painting, installing finish trim, plumbing, installing windows and doors, drywall, faux finishes, and more. Her most valuable contribution she brings to the table is her ability to work with and understand color.
Summer has an associates degree in Human Services and finds that understanding human behavior and emotions is essential for creating a home that will resonate with each unique client.
